Predictive Diagnostics Manager
Location: Houston, TX
General Description
The Predictive Diagnostics Manager leads a group of 5 people in North America and Europe with the primary responsibility of detect, report, and document potential future failures in wind turbines, solar panels, or other electric systems and components using condition monitoring and data analytics. The primary data sources used by the analyst for that purpose are reliability data, vibration analyses, oil particle counters, lubrication condition data, and temperature data.
Main Accountabilities

- Detect potential failures using the EDPR’s corporate condition monitoring tools to analyze operational data
- Communicate clear inspection and repair recommendations to the site managers and technicians
- Communicate each finding to the site personnel using the EPDR tools
- Provide remote support to site personnel to ensure recommendations are addressed correctly and within the appropriate time
- Report the results of the inspection feedback and relay decisions of replacing/repairing the component, material, system, etc.
- Assess failure types, remaining useful life, and scope of work required based on inspection pictures
- Ensure that the sites and maintenance teams have clear and actionable information
- Create quarterly reports summarizing the detections (priority, added value, component, status, etc.)
- Manage relationships with condition monitoring vendors
- Identify opportunities with EDPR’s fleet for new condition monitoring implementations and prepare business cases to analyze profitability of such installations
- Stay current with new techniques and tools in the market to predict failures
- Develop new monitoring strategies/tools by using readily available data with advanced data science techniques
- Work closely with other teams within Performance Management, especially with colleagues which primarily use other monitoring technologies/platforms
- Company policy and legal compliance – understand and apply the labor safety, environmental, and quality plans in order to assure its accomplishment and the continuous improvement of departmental activities
- Institutional representation of EDPR – represent the company against public and private institutions and organizations in its competency issues while defending the EDPR values in order to obtain business plan improvements, reinforce its image, and competitive position

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- 3 – 10 years of relevant technical experience, including at least 3 years in the wind energy industry
- Familiarity with Python or R software preferred
- Experience with machine learning (Regression, decision tree, Random forest, etc.)
- Familiarity with SQL and SAP preferred
- Vibration Analyst cat II certification preferred
- Familiarity with planetary gearboxes, generators, solar and power generation and conversion equipment preferred
- Project Management experience preferred
